ABOUT US

Bali is an island of spectacular beauty buzzing with activity. The Balinese are relentlessly industrious, happily engaged in the making of beautiful things for us, for you. And yet, every morning time is taken to make an offering of thanks, a ritual part of Hindu daily prayer. Their offering is a small basket woven from fresh long green leaves and filled with aromatic Frangapani blossoms, whose heavenly scent is unmistakable as you walk along any street. Each basket holds burning incense sticks, more flowers and a little handful of cooked rice. This fragrant offering of thanks is placed on the ground at the front of every house and also at the many statues and family shrines that rise up in the rice fields, along every street and everywhere you look. All the houses and buildings are protected by many statues, most of them with hideous, mean, frightening faces. These are the guardians who watch over the house and the family, warding off harm.

Our Bali Adventure in May 2008 brought us closer to the individuals and families who produce the pieces of our collection. We visited our amazing craftsmen who cut and sculpt sea shells and coconut wood, and their whole families, several generations of women and elders whose nimble fingers and deft hands, work the beads and the weaving. We visited our Bali silversmiths, respected around the world for their artistry in silver and gold. They have inherited and perfected their centuries-old art, preserving time-honored traditions. And by crafting the exquisite concepts of jewelry designers in Bali and the world over, these artists have brought their art to contemporary fashion.
